The internationally renowned French designer Ronan Bouroullec, who works alongside his brother Erwan, is giving a lecture at Bozar in Brussels on 2 June 2026. For him, every project – be it an ashtray, a piece of furniture or a spatial installation – is simply a new way of exploring the boundaries of what is possible. By combining industrial production methods with traditional craftsmanship, he creates designs that stand out through a refined aesthetic and keen eye for detail. This is particularly evident in projects developed in close dialogue with architecture, where Bouroullec’s subtle interventions respond to the character and atmosphere of the spaces they occupy. In this interview, Bouroullec reflects on switching between different scales and disciplines, on curiosity as a working method, and on design as a practice that subtly transforms the environment.
