Particularly in a context of recession, economic contraction, a shift in architectural paradigms or the obsolescence of the built heritage, a disconnect emerges between the scale of the physical reality of certain buildings and that of their intended use. These buildings are too large, feature spaces that are too high or, conversely, ceilings that are too low; their structures are either too weak or, conversely, oversized. In all cases, these structures seem ill-suited to their current uses. This heritage, which is often at least partially disused or underutilised, calls for reflection and a clear stance.
