A mustard factory on an industrial estate that exudes a sacred atmosphere whilst remaining functional? It is possible, as demonstrated by this tour de force from Dhooge & Meganck Architecture.

In 1905, Louis Van Camp began pickling vegetables in vinegar. He used the leftovers to make pickles – the first person in Belgium to do so. He also decided to sell the mustard he had to produce for this purpose. When the company was taken over in 2010, it was located in the town centre of Ronse. The high renovation costs and the challenges regarding accessibility and odour nuisance led to the construction of a new factory on an industrial estate near Oudenaarde.
