The Lolo Ferrari project was carried out by Laure D’Arripe, Victor Lacôte, Vincent Tedjirian and Jordan Zekri as part of the ‘Scéno-Porno-Graphie’ workshop offered during the Educational Innovation Week in the 2017–2018 academic year at the ULB La Cambre Horta Faculty of Architecture.

In autumn 2018, ulb Culture organised an exhibition on pornography in its Allende Hall. In the run-up to the event, Jean-Didier Bergilez, one of the exhibition’s curators, organised an intensive workshop to develop the specific scenography required by works considered to be pornographic. The central question was: ‘How do we display and exhibit something which, by definition, plays on the seen and the hidden, the visible and the invisible, the speakable and the taboo, the intimate and the extimate, the theatrical and the obscene? ’ Over the course of a week, twenty students explored different approaches, experimented with spatial arrangements and devised displays based on the material provided and the curatorial intentions set out by the curators. The creators of the Lolo Ferrari project propose using seven themes identified in this material as ‘showcases’ to present the works of seven contemporary artists, whilst also making several radical spatial choices.
