Is this a mustard factory? This is a mustard factory! Earlier this month, with *Dit is een Mosterdfabriek*, the Vlaams Architectuurinstituut presented, for the 13th time, a retrospective of the most interesting architectural projects from the past two years in Flanders.

It is no easy task to write a review of the *Architectuurboek* No. 13 yearbook. Yearbooks provide an overview of the finest architectural projects emerging in a specific country over a two-year period. Whilst the concept may seem simple, the criteria underpinning the selection of featured projects are crucial. Where does one begin when dealing with 400 submissions? What approach should be taken? What role does the yearbook aim to play? The criteria adopted therefore contribute to the publication’s raison d’être, to the justification for the selection of projects, to addressing the societal issues of the moment, and to representing our architectural culture.
