For the final months of the Stynen year, the VAi is pulling out all the stops: a major retrospective exhibition, two architectural cabinets, lectures and a beautiful catalogue. The common thread running through all these projects centred on Léon Stynen extends beyond architecture: they also reveal how Stynen approached the representation of his own work and that of others.
In 1963, Ludo Bekkers produced two episodes for the then BRT on the work of Le Corbusier in Chandigarh (India). He spent a month in the city for this, and Léon Stynen accompanied him there for a period of two weeks. During that time, Stynen took a series of photographs of the city and the architecture of Le Corbusier, his great role model.
