Trans Architectuur designed a ‘domestic factory’ for the social enterprise Ryhove. The sheltered workshop is nestled within the residential fabric of Ghent. The combination of residential and industrial elements called for new architectural compositions.
Gazing at a house in Koningsdal, Ghent, the eye is drawn to a dancing curtain pattern. The seemingly transparent fabric prevents you from peering inside. You seem to be looking in through the window, but the reflection in the glass draws your focus outwards. The background reveals something other than domestic life. The austere rhythm of the concrete façade seems to entice its neighbour, as if inviting the living room into a future intrigue.
