After graduating with degrees in civil engineering and architecture from UCLouvain, and having gained experience through an exchange programme at EPFL Lausanne, Nicolas Willemet and Guillaume Vanneste joined forces to take part in various design competitions. In 2015, they were awarded their first project – the renovation of a penthouse flat in Schaerbeek – which marked the establishment of their practice, vvv. Their studies, as well as their professional experience at L’Escaut architectures and Studio Secchi Viganò, have made them keenly aware of the urban scale. They have since been actively involved in research into urban planning issues. They are also keen to be active in teaching, which allows them to “maintain a sense of perspective on their practice, free themselves from the practical constraints of projects, and thus enrich their thinking through the exchanges and inspiration this generates”.

vvv cultivates a keen interest in both the architecture of the city and the question of living within it, without any preconceptions regarding the scale of the projects undertaken. Nicolas Willemet and Guillaume Vanneste approach their projects – whether the renovation of a flat or the development of a public space – as being embedded within a broader urban fabric that they enjoy exploring.
