Lore Perneel and Carmen Osten have been working together ever since they met whilst studying architecture at Sint-Lucas in Ghent. They’ve never stopped since. It feels like second nature, an unspoken bond that unites them. It was therefore only natural that they should set up their own practice together after working at evr-architecten (Lore) and with Marie-José Van Hee (Carmen). In 2011, the submission of the planning application for the Villa aan de Leie project officially marked the start of their collaboration.

In the projects they have designed since then, Lore and Carmen always strive to strike the right balance. Consistency is their top priority. The two architects are absolutely committed to maintaining consistency in the projects they develop because, for them – as designers and builders – it is not merely a matter of devising visions but of actually bringing them to fruition. They therefore endeavour to manage the various components and stages of a project, from design through to construction, including the drafting process. This is how they give themselves the freedom to evolve and grow gradually. This approach is evident in their attention to detail, their rigorous choice of materials and the precision with which they construct their buildings.
