In 2017 the Swiss architectural firm EM2N, together with Ilka and Andreas Ruby, created the exhibition Together! The new architecture of the collective for the Vitra Design Museum. Since then, interest in new collective housing models has continued to grow as the exhibition travels the world. We talked to Daniel Niggli (EM2N) about the architectural and urban-planning implications of cooperative and collective housing.

Lisa De Visscher – The exhibition Together! shows collective housing projects throughout history and from all over the world. And yet we see that the cooperative model from Zurich plays a leading role in terms of image. Is Zurich the cradle of these new residential models?
