The project ‘A Legacy Without a Will’ was carried out by Tristan Narcy as part of his thesis during the 2016–2017 academic year at the Faculty of Architecture, Architectural Engineering and Urban Planning (LOCI-UCL), Tournai campus.

In every place, in every corner, there is more than meets the eye; it is as though, behind the forms of its architecture, the city were capable of evoking a moment in its history. The complexity of the urban fabric, which at times appears incoherent, as if left to the whims of stubborn builders, is nevertheless always meaningful. Through its form, the city is capable of offering an experience of its past. It is capable of signifying the existence of past events, for its fabric retains urban features whose form can be characterised by different eras.
