TRANS Architectuur designed a ‘domestic factory’ for made-to-measure company Ryhove. The sheltered workplace is nestled in Ghent’s residential fabric. The combination of housing and industry demanded new architectural compositions.

Gazing at a house on the Koningsdal in Ghent, your attention is drawn to a dancing curtain pattern. The seemingly transparent fabric prevents you from peeking inside. You seem to look in through the window, but the reflection of the glass draws your focus outside. The background shows something other than housing. The taut rhythm of the concrete façade seems to attract its front neighbour, as if it were inviting the living room to engage in a future intrigue.
