La Roseraie in Uccle, an artistic hub for youth theatre and circus arts, is getting a facelift thanks to a competition for energy renovation, expansion and landscaping, won by the consortium Architectures Parallèles – Manger Nielsen. Analysis of the three proposals.
La Roseraie, hidden behind a long wall at number 1299 on the Alsembergsesteenweg towards Beersel, is a fascinating place. In the early 1930s, the land was purchased by the municipality of Saint-Gilles to establish an open-air school for children with fragile health. The school was founded at the request of alderman Louis Coene and opened its doors in 1938.
