The eleventh edition of the Meesterproef produced the same number of winners. They were presented with their awards by Leo Van Broeck at the Night of Architecture. In line with this year’s theme, ‘Heritage and Repurposing’, six projects from across Flanders were selected.
The Meesterproef aims to offer young designers the opportunity to gain experience with public commissions. Unlike in previous editions, the participating architects were no longer nominated by the institutions from which they graduated; instead, the selection was drawn from 120 enthusiastic applications. This year, too, the Meesterproef focused on collaboration with visual artists. Curator Evelien Bracke, acting as an adviser to the Kunstcel of the Department of Culture, Youth and Media, selected young artistic talent who were invited to submit proposals for the integration of art at the sites.
