Detail Makes the Difference

Discover architecture through the lens of detail during an evening at the Nieuwe Instituut in Rotterdam, entirely dedicated to this theme. Eline Dehullu (editor-in-chief A+), Job Floris (Monadnock) and author Stephan Petermann will engage in a conversation about the details that make the difference. They will delve into the contrasts between Belgium and the Netherlands in architectural practice, differences in culture, responsibility, and methodology.

The evening ties in with the latest issue of A+ Architecture in Belgium: A+317 Joints & Details, in which the A+ editorial team, together with Aurélie Hachez, explores the multifaceted role of detail – from aesthetic and cultural to historical and political.

The talk will be followed by a quiz on differences in detailing between Belgian and Dutch architecture. This will conclude the first day of “Exchange in Practice”, a two-day exchange programme for emerging architects from the Netherlands and Flanders/Brussels.

This event is a collaboration between the Nieuwe Instituut, the Flanders Architecture Institute (VAi), nai010 publishers and A+ Architecture in Belgium.
