In 2019, Trans Architectuur completed the De Schoor service centre on behalf of the Orion care group. The design fits into the village-like context of the Schorvoort neighbourhood in Turnhout, but the multifaceted nature of the architecture means it can also be seen as a stepping stone towards urbanity.
Following a Housing Pilot Project by the Flemish Government Architect, a masterplan was drawn up for the Schorvoort neighbourhood in 2015. In addition to six hundred homes, the plan provided for community functions to revitalise the monofunctional neighbourhood. As part of the design team, Trans was awarded the follow-up contract for the realisation of De Schoor. The centre serves a wide range of functions, from advising on and supporting activities within the care provision to creating meeting places for the neighbourhood.
