The ‘Love pt. II’ project by Brussels-based architecture firm Label involves similarities and connections. It draws us into a strange fiction with no origins and no truths. This is the second phase of a project to renovate and extend the sports complex in the municipality of Loverval. More than ten years after the start of ‘pt. I’, ‘pt. II’ is taking shape. This extension to the existing sports hall includes a new indoor multisport pitch, a boulder room and changing rooms.
Picture this. You’re in Rome, Piazza del Popolo, sitting on the steps of the obelisk to rest for a moment. It’s hot already, groups of tourists fill the space, the noise of traffic on the cobblestones isolates you in your thoughts. Opposite you, the twin churches of Santa Maria dei Miracoli and Santa Maria di Montesanto. You look at them and let your mind wander. You ask yourself whether they are identical, but you notice differences. You wonder if they were built at the same time and by the same person, while not knowing that this is not the case. Finally, you ask yourself whether they are twin churches or whether the whole should be seen as an urban gateway to the city. Something doubled, something shared? You’re not quite sure.
