With 130 years of dedicated quality, Floren has been quietly supporting the ever-changing trends and tastes of the architectural industry through continuous aesthetic and technical innovation. Floren’s products are seen throughout Europe and have won international appreciation along the way. Based in Brecht, the company draws on its supply of Campine Old-Quaternary clay to produce over 22 million bricks per year. Floren’s dedicated and skilled employees oversee 90 premium colours in 20 different sizes, with sustainability placed at the core of everything they produce.

Student Accommodation, Kortrijk
Markland, in collaboration with Link Lab, has completed the second phase of the Vercruysselaan masterplan for Studentcomfort, delivering a contemporary student residence of 95 rooms alongside dedicated cycle storage and a flexible multifunctional space.
At the heart of the design is Floren’s Avorio clay brick, whose soft pastel hues strike a careful balance between the warmth of the surrounding red brick streetscape and a quietly contemporary edge. A considered choice for a project that needed to feel at home in its setting while standing on its own terms.

Contractor Furnibo led the structural works using an innovative prefabrication approach, shortening the construction timeline without compromising on quality or architectural integrity, demonstrating how considered off-site methods can keep pace with demand while still delivering something worth being proud of.

Woolwich Crossrail Station, London
Woolwich Station is a key part of ongoing revitalisation efforts in south-east London, supporting the development of new homes alongside cultural, heritage, commercial and leisure spaces. One of the Elizabeth Line’s newer additions, the station spans 256 metres and comprises two above-ground structures connected by an underground platform.
Delivering the design required innovative solutions to meet an ambitious brief, with multiple stakeholders involved, including Crossrail, Berkeley Homes, the Royal Borough of Greenwich, Transport for London, Rail for London, CABE, Historic England, and local communities and schools.

Floren’s Castor bricks were selected for both the interior and exterior, chosen to honour the local vernacular and the area’s tradition of deep bronze tones. Their brown tones and white highlights create a warm, distinguished atmosphere that complements the project’s broader palette of regal purples and whites.

Nieuwenhovendreef 2, Varsenare
Nieuwenhovendreef 2 is a high-specification residential project in Varsenare by premium housebuilders, Westhoekvillas. Set within lush gardens in a quiet suburb outside the main town. It is a compelling example of contemporary design sitting comfortably alongside traditional brickwork and established surroundings.
Westhoekvillas specialises in traditionally built houses and delivers turnkey homes and apartments throughout West Flanders, with a particular focus on the Bruges area.

The project makes striking use of Floren’s Polaris, with the long-format brick contrasting effectively against accented windows and other facade elements. Large glazed openings look out over nearby fields and the property’s expansive gardens, and despite its contemporary appearance, the house sits comfortably among its neighbours.

Eylenbosch Brewery, Dilbeek
The Eylenbosch Brewery, though long abandoned, has remained firmly embedded in the collective memory of Dilbeek’s residents. Positioned along the Ninoofsesteenweg at the convergence of a residential area, a former industrial site and open land, the brewery presented a compelling opportunity for regeneration.
A comprehensive scheme by OSK-AR Architects brings 54 apartments, 3,000 sq m of commercial space, a small brewery and a two-level underground car park to the site. Given its heritage-listed status, the project involved extensive consultation with heritage services throughout.

Guided by a commitment to sustainability, the construction team prioritised the preservation of the existing structures, respecting their spatial character and heritage value. Salvaged facing bricks were reused extensively across the site, complemented by long-format Floren Avorio bricks to achieve a coherent and considered architectural outcome.
