Every year in Brussels, several large-scale office buildings are demolished and replaced with new developments, even though they are barely a few decades old. The studio is examining seven projects where demolition or major renovation is intended to make way for a mixed-use development comprising offices and housing. The brief involves superimposing 66.6 per cent of the existing buildings and 66.6 per cent of the future masterplans and, based on this overlap, arriving at a new and critical proposal. The remaining 33.3 per cent allows scope for change, although the emphasis is on using resources and materials as sparingly as possible.

The programme included seven diverse projects, such as the social housing blocks on Paepenvest, the KBC headquarters on Havenlaan, the fire station on Helihavenlaan, WTC I and II and the Proximus Tower on Albert II-laan, the block of buildings on Lebeaustraat near the Zavel slated for demolition, and the former GB headquarters in Evere.
