Foster Care Flemish Brabant and Brussels found a new home in a remarkable location on a main road. The building references the modernist villa and its tension between standing still and moving, between coming home and leaving.
It is a remarkable stretch of road. The road cuts through the hill, the two halves of which are supported by concrete retaining walls. Anyone driving into Leuven here will encounter mysterious roads: to the right to the Lemmens Institute, an art school, and to Gasthuisberg, the large hospital, to the left to the postmodern KBC building. It is the frayed edge of Leuven, laboriously built on the hills.
