The Tiny City House design studio, under the supervision of Karel Vandenhende and Sarah Flebus, aims to make sustainable use of the scarce space in the city. Seven pairs of final-year students from the architecture design engineering-architecture programme at KU Leuven investigated how it is possible to live in less than 25 m² in a residential unit that can be stacked and linked.

The focus was on how interior design can reinforce this in a circular way. The materiality was determined by consulting existing databases of recovered materials or new materials that are circular and bio-based. Each duo created a 1:1 scale mock-up of a typical connection from their design.
