On 18 February 2025, A and Bozar invited the Paris-based agency Muoto to a conference at the Centre for Fine Arts in Brussels to discuss their work and methodology. Muoto (2003) – ‘form’ in Finnish – is known for its minimalist and industrial style. Gilles Delalex and Yves Moreau are advocates of timeless architecture. Following the lecture, A spoke with Gilles Delalex about the way the agency uses a grid, circular designs and utopias.

A+ – Your portfolio includes several projects with a grid structure, some of which are integrated into a circular floor plan. The Cité de la réalité virtuelle building complex (Laval, 2014), the office building for the innovation ecosystem in Montpellier (2022) and the ongoing project for an eco-campus, for which you are collaborating with Tab Architects in Diepenbeek, are good examples of this. How do you turn this limitation into an asset and encourage the appropriation of spaces by the people who use them?
