The first phase of the Marlette project is nearing completion, revealing the new multi-purpose sports hall. This building is part of a wider redevelopment of the entire Adeps centre site in Seneffe by the Ledroit Pierret Polet (LPP) architectural firm. Accustomed to the Brussels landscape, LPP is stepping outside its comfort zone and tackling a rural setting, while maintaining the same sensitive approach. The approach is to renovate the buildings that are part of the site’s collective memory, namely the reception building and the director’s house, and to rebuild the most obsolete ones: the boathouse and the multi-purpose sports hall.
Less than 50 kilometres from Brussels, along the Brussels-Charleroi canal, lies the Adeps centre in Seneffe. This rural area is all the more exotic as the surroundings do not give any indication of it. The centre is located on a triangular plot of land, two sides of which are bordered by the canal. The third side is a wooded fringe bordered by the Samme stream. It isolates this holiday resort from the industrial area just behind it.
