On a plot surrounded by rear facades, Aamwerk designed two residential buildings for people with disabilities. The layout plan and cross-section are enough to see how cleverly this special house is designed.

The programme was simple. Duinhelm, an organisation that provides homes for people with disabilities, needed new homes: a building with twenty rooms in the first phase, another building with another twenty rooms in the second phase. Less simple was the piece of land on which these buildings were to be constructed. The plot was narrow and bordered by the rear sides of existing and yet-to-be-built homes, and was situated on the cusp between a historic hamlet, a new housing development and a sports park.
