A new roof pavilion made of wood and steel was added to a historic school building in Antwerp. The pavilion deliberately remains in the shade. The surrounding corridor becomes a balcony and a – first – exhibition space.

Where could Pius X, a secondary school in the centre of Antwerp, expand? On the roof, a preliminary study had shown. So the designers at Poot Architectuur were commissioned to design a roof pavilion, in addition to a technical upgrade of the existing building.
