The circus has arrived in the Condroz village of Marchin: a permanent circus. In the heart of the hamlet of Grand-Marchin, its mysterious silhouette, clad entirely in wood, rises above the familiar buildings of the cultural centre and its large grassy square. This unique project gave the Meunier-Westrade workshop in Tournai the opportunity to offer a contemporary reinterpretation of the dreamlike archetype of the circus tent. The building is scheduled to open in October 2022 after a long journey.
It was the huge success of the “Rencart de la fédération des artistes de la rue” (Street Artists’ Federation Meeting) organised in October 2003 that sparked the bold idea within the Marchin cultural centre to develop an additional area of activity linked to circus arts, opening up exciting prospects in this culturally dynamic municipality.
