Sustainable construction is no longer a choice, but a shared responsibility. New standards, innovative materials and circular concepts challenge designers to make a difference. The role of the architect is evolving from designer to changemaker: those who want to shape the future of our built environment must help steer the sustainable transition.

On 27 and 28 January 2026, Brussels Expo will once again become the epicentre of innovation and knowledge sharing during Futurebuild Belgium. This second edition brings the entire construction and real estate community together around a single ambition: building a climate-neutral future.

Visitors will discover more than a hundred exhibitors presenting sustainable techniques, materials and circular solutions. In addition, an extensive programme of top speakers, case studies and debates is on the agenda, in collaboration with NAV, the Order of Architects, ARiB and other partners. The Start-up Zone, Biobased Market and Academy Campus are inspiration zones where research institutes, universities and young companies share their innovations.

“The construction sector accounts for 38% of greenhouse gas emissions. If the world wants to evolve towards less entropy, architects must be the brains behind that change.”
— Pascal Simoens, Université de Mons / S²Engineering – Futurebuild Belgium ambassador

Architecture not only determines the aesthetics of our living environment, but also its ecological and social impact. That is why Futurebuild brings together the players who are already making a difference today: designers, researchers, manufacturers and policymakers who look beyond the norm.

“The construction sector should no longer be part of the problem, but rather contribute to the solution.”
— Luc Eeckhout, EVR Architects – Futurebuild Belgium ambassador

Futurebuild aims to stimulate precisely this cross-pollination: sharing knowledge and inspiration, strengthening collaborations and accelerating sustainable innovation.

A special moment in this process is the presentation of the Futurebuild Innovation Awards, in which a professional jury honours the most innovative solutions. In doing so, Futurebuild underlines its role as a catalyst for progress, knowledge and connection within the construction sector.
