Laboratoire is a young architecture firm based in Liège. Its members are interested in the urban issues often involved in the public commissions they undertake. The concept of scalability is important to them; according to them, “architecture does not have a single answer, but we strive to produce holistic and situated responses that create the conditions necessary for the appropriation and transformation of a building”.
A thorough political, social, economic and spatial analysis of the context of each of their projects is the starting point for their reflections. These are questions that they believe Bertrand Goldberg brilliantly negotiated for the Marina City project, the reference they have chosen.
