The Meer van Rotselaar lake got a new bathing pavilion. Fijn Atelier drew up the design and, contrary to expectations, was able to reuse elements from the previous pavilion. The new pavilion, with its beautiful roof, excels in simplicity.
It was worn out, inaccessible, unattractive. So the old pavilion on Lake Rotselaar, in Flemish Brabant, was to be demolished. It was the kind of building you often come across: wooden cladding, a roof of black corrugated iron, clinkers around it, in a place that – as is often the case near a beach – is always festive and a bit dirty at the same time.
