The Every Island collective, founded in Brussels in 2021, focuses on the concepts of performativity, usage and transformation. Their temporary installation Welcome, which took place two years ago in a building in Brussels’ European quarter, is a good example of this.

Their spatial intervention was both an installation in itself and a scenography that suggested a use, a performance. They thus question ritual within the domestic environment by provoking a confrontation between the viewer and the work in order to “lead to the creation of scenarios where seeing, acting and imagining become fundamental”.
