The five finalists for the EUmies Award 2026 have now been announced, and two Belgian projects are among them!

The Mies van der Rohe Award, a major reference in European architectural design, celebrates projects that renew public space, reinforce sustainability and affirm the social role of architecture on a continental scale. Supported by the European Commission and the Fundació Mies van der Rohe, the projects are analysed and debated by an international jury of seven members: chair Smiljan Radić, Carl Bäckstrand, Chris Briffa, Zaiga Gaile, Tina Gregorič, Nikolaus Hirsch and Rosa Rull.
Two other Belgian projects also feature in the shortlist of 40 selected projects:
Abby Kortrijk in Kortrijk, designed by Barozzi Veiga and Tab Architects
USquare Feder in Ixelles, designed by Callebaut architecten, BC architects & studies, evr-Architecten bvba and VK architects+engineers


Also among the nominees is the Thoravej 29 project designed by pihlmann architects in Copenhagen. Søren Thirup Pihlmann will be present for a TALK on 31 March at Bozar.

The winners of the 2026 Mies van der Rohe Award will be announced at an official ceremony accompanied by conferences, debates and exhibitions in May 2026 at the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion in Barcelona.
