A grey, run-of-the-mill police station along a busy road in Antwerp was completely renovated by Ono architecture. Since the summer of 2023, it has been home to a law firm. The new building embraces the public life of the city and is bursting with colour, texture and tactility thanks to transdisciplinary collaborations.
We are in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2020, the Schoups law firm, which has around eighty employees, organises a closed competition for the renovation of a banal, grey building on the noisy Mechelsesteenweg in Antwerp. The building dates from the 1960s and was used by the criminal investigation department for a long time. The company M127, led by Marco Schoups, wants to transform this dark, closed building into an open space for the neighbourhood, where its employees will be happy to return to work after the pandemic.
