The construction sector plays a role in the global extraction of raw materials that should not be underestimated. It is a valid question: how can we adopt alternative construction methods that meet the growing demand for housing and workspaces in a sustainable way? How do we renew our cities’ building stock without relying on scarce raw materials that are at risk of being depleted? How can we reuse construction or demolition waste? These questions form the focus of guided tours of a few exemplary and emblematic buildings during Archiweek.

Archiweek 2022 is a week dedicated to contemporary architecture in the Brussels Region. The fourth edition features guided tours of contemporary buildings, open days at architectural practices, events and exhibitions, all of which are free to attend. The initiative is organised by urban.brussels, also the organiser of the Open Monument Days, which promote Brussels’ architectural culture from all periods and raise awareness of it among the general public.
