In a new residential neighbourhood in Aalst, a historic roof commemorates the Tupperware factory that once stood here. B-juxta designed a steel structure that lovingly supports the roof. A square was created underneath it. Who will be allowed to make noise here in the future?
Like a church in an otherwise bombed-out city, the historic sawtooth roof of the Tupperware factory stood there for some time. After all, not much remained of the factory on Pierre Corneliskaai in Aalst, which the now bankrupt Tupperware had already abandoned in 2007. To make the site suitable for housing, nearly four hectares of brownfield land had to be remediated. This meant that most of the factory buildings had to be demolished.
