Description

The traditional detached house no longer fits within the current social discourse on the sustainable use of space, lifestyle and mobility. In this special issue, we show different forms of collective housing that offer a valuable alternative to the traditional housing dream thanks to the spatial and domestic quality of shared spaces. We examine the robustness of a few older collective projects, highlight the domesticity of recently completed buildings, and look ahead to future alternatives for housing in Flanders and Brussels. Featuring projects by, among others, URA, Bovenbouw, Havana, ECTV, V+ and MS-A, and an interview with the Swiss office EM2N.
