Lecture by Christian Kerez
Christian Kerez (°1962) founded his practice in Zurich in 1993. He had previously worked as a photographer for a number of years during which he developed a passionate interest in infrastructure and industrial sites. He has since given a lot of importance to the structure of the buildings he designs. Models allow him to visualize the interpenetration of the diverse elements. Kerez is as much a builder as a designer. His creations are precise with painstaking attention to detail and carefully chosen materials. The accuracy of the execution produces simple and effective projects of a unique clarity. His best known creations include the “House with One Wall” and the school in Leutschenbach. In 2016 he represented Switzerland at the Venice Biennale of Architecture. He will be at Centre for Fine Arts to speak about his work and his approach to architecture.
